Shooting at gun range11/21/2023 Range officers may suspend this permission, based on their discretion, when conditions exist that may compromise the safety of the shooters and others. Up to six rounds may be loaded in the magazine and chamber combined, with a minimum of three seconds required between shots. One Shot Rule: A blanket permit has been issued, which allows more than one round to be loaded at a time on the rifle/pistol ranges. For your protection, range participants are responsible for providing – and required to wear – eye and ear protection.Shooters are responsible for keeping their shooting area in order and properly disposing of all targets, trash and shell casings.Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not permitted on the firing line. No alcoholic beverages are allowed at the ranges.Paper targets with a bullseye pattern or a depiction of legal game may be used. Only approved targets may be used no human-form silhouettes or metal targets.Range firearms may be loaded and discharged only at an established shooting station at approved targets.Shooters must keep their range firearms pointed in a safe direction at all times. They must be cased prior to leaving the shooting station. Range firearms may be uncased only at the shooting stations on the firing lines.Shooters under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.Range firearms must be unloaded and cased in order to enter the range.Shooting is allowed only when DNR range personnel are present. Range hours have been established to ensure safety and to protect the ranges against vandalism. The gated parking lots are designated for range participants only.Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after using your firearm to remove any lead.Be sure to follow the range rules on picking up your brass or sweeping your brass forward the firing line, and remove used targets and debris before you leave. The firing line will be marked with a bright yellow or red line. Never cross the firing line unless the RSO says it is ok during a ceasefire.DO NOT handle any firearms during a ceasefire. If it’s possible, place the firearm pointing down range on the bench or stall in front of you and back away from the firing line. If a ceasefire is called, everyone must stop what they’re doing immediately. Anyone can call ceasefire if they see an unsafe situation, like a safety infraction or a serious malfunction.Do not interfere with active shooters unless you see an unsafe situation.Do not shoot range equipment, including target carriers or holders. Don’t shoot across lanes, only shoot at the target in front of you. The backstop is constructed to stop or re-direct fired bullets. Wearing a shirt with a high neckline and a hat aren’t required but can also help with this. Standard PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed toe shoes, which protect you from expelled cartridges. Always make sure you are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when a range is hot.If you are unsure about that range’s rules, ask the Range Officer. If a range permits a loaded firearm behind the firing line, keep it in the holster or case until you approach the firing line.Firearms should only be loaded at the firing line and only while the range is hot. If you need to uncase or un-holster a firearm, take it to the firing line and uncase it with the firearm pointing down range. Never handle a firearm behind the firing line.A “cold” range means that firearms are always unloaded except when at the firing line. When a range is “hot” it means that shooters are allowed to begin firing. Most ranges will have an assigned RSO who is responsible for making sure everyone is being safe. Listen to the Range Safety Officer (RSO), sometimes called the Range Officer (RO).Always follow these rules, no exceptions! Remember, these rules are there to make sure that everyone is having a safe experience. We recommend arriving with your firearm unloaded with the slide locked to the rear to show the range staff that it is clear. Make sure to check with them when you arrive or call ahead. While there are some common basics, each range has their own specific rules.

Show values jmp bar graph builder11/21/2023 Our first step is to create a bar chart of the data, as shown in Figure 3:Ĭategorical or nominal data: appropriate for bar chartsīar charts make sense for categorical or nominal data, since they are measured on a scale with specific possible values. Across 10 bags, we expect to have approximately 200 pieces of candy for each flavor. The goal is for the bags to have nearly equal counts for each flavor, meaning we expect to have roughly 20 pieces of candy for each flavor in each bag. Each bag has 100 pieces of candy and the count for the five flavors has been collected for each bag. You may wish to consult a statistician or the many books and websites available to determine which type of bar chart works best for your data.įigures 3-15 use data from 10 bags of candy. Software usually allows users to create either vertical or horizontal bar charts, as well as add custom features to a bar chart.īelow are a few examples of bar charts. Software is often used to create bar charts. Most software tools give options for the statistic to chart. While all of the examples show bar charts with counts, these graphs can also show other statistics, such as percentages. It includes a legend for the categories, which allows for longer labels that make the categories easier to read. Unlike a histogram, the Pareto chart summarizes counts for a nominal or categorical variable.įigure 2 gives an example of a Pareto chart that summarizes types of findings in an audit of business processes. Like a histogram, a Pareto chart does not have gaps between bars. These charts are often used in quality control to identify the areas with the most problems. For a Pareto chart, the bars are ordered from highest to lowest. What is the difference between bar charts and Pareto charts?Ī Pareto chart is a special example of a bar chart. See the "Bar charts and types of data" section below for more detail. Histograms are used with continuous data bar charts are used with categorical or nominal data. However, with many software tools, you can revise a bar chart so that it does not have gaps between the bars, which leads to the second key difference between histograms and bar charts. Histograms do not have gaps between bars, while bar charts do. Two key differences between histograms and bar charts are the gaps between bars and the types of data. What is the difference between bar charts and histograms? The bars show the levels of the variable the height of the bars show the counts of responses for that level.

Susan boyle first audition11/21/2023 I'm probably one of the 10 people in the world who didn't pay much attention to Susan Boyle. You deserve all the riches and blessings this world has to give you. Susan, congratulations on your book and a story well told. The quilt pictured in the book."I" was one of those quilters and my "Angel" square is in the top LEFT corner looking at the photo and I couldn't be prouder as I like to consider myself Susan's number one fan in Canada!!! Her story is touching, happy, sad and will make you laugh, shake your head, cry, want to jump up and down and might even propel you to try the 'Susan wiggle', it worked for me! LOL People are so quick to judge others who are not like themselves but I'm here to tell you, this woman is one smart cookie, a heck of a lot smarter than many folks would have given her credit for. Susan's autobiography is HER story and she tells it well. Wow! What a difference a year can make!!!! You are literally awed, stuptified, your mouth won't move and all you can do is cry tears that come from the very innermost, deepest parts of your soul. The range, the pitch and notes this woman can hit literally leave you quaking in your boots. On ApSusan Boyle was known around the world!! She had become an overnight sensation singing with the voice of an angel. Nope, for Susan, it really wasn't a "birthday" but just any other ordinary day. There were no cards, no presents, no parties, no phone calls with people singing happy birthday. On April 1st, 2009 Susan Boyle spent a lonely birthday in her West Lothian home in Scotland. Her beautiful song repertoire is colourfully, well varied. Lets act civilized around artists and not scare them, please! Using her faith to conquer stage fright and any worries is inspiring. She left at midnight! Susan was rightfully jarred by the press and public’s aggressive chasing. I was unsurprised by a daylong wait to audition but stunned that a peer shared a sandwich, instead of the wealthy AGT providing hydration and nourishment. Whitney’s writing tutorial: “The train of opportunity will come. Susan regaled neighbours with her extraordinarily lovely voice at pubs, took lessons, and won TV contests. This excellent book also clearly teaches about the drive and work exerted by artists, who only seem to come out of nowhere according to us suddenly hearing about them. It was believed that they needed to mollycoddle Susan but her passions and ambitions grew, until she was taking courses and jobs that suited her. She made great points about perception, for example, how people presumed doctors knew everything and still do but we question them more now. “ The Woman I Was Born To Be: My Story” drew me into a large, loving cat family and small town life in Scotland from the 1960s to 1980s, one decade earlier than my childhood in Canada. This is what I read to acquaint this sweet, gifted, hilarious lady instead. I put it aside for myself and recently, saw a hardcover of Susan’s own co-authored story in 2010. I got an unauthorized biography for Mom second-hand. My Mom loved Susan Boyle’s music and both my parents marvelled over her story: a Scottish woman who took care of her parents, pursued a dream, and made it big in 2009. (Although it's not in the book, Susan later received an Asperger's Syndrome diagnosis.) 3.5 stars. She wrote, "You should always focus on what you can do, not on what you can't do-and remember, there's no rush." Those are inspirational words for people of all abilities. Susan hoped that her accomplishments would make it a little easier for other people with a disability. It was often hard for her to step on the stage, but the music took over when she started singing with her sweet powerful voice. Susan had a high level of anxiety, and the hounding from the press was almost unbearable. Her Catholic faith sustained Susan during difficult times. Her father was protective, and her mother was encouraging and loving. Her large family of eight brothers and sisters were very supportive. Her years at school were not happy because her classmates bullied her and she had trouble learning. Susan had some slight brain damage due to lack of oxygen at birth. Susan Boyle was an unknown woman from a small village in West Lothian, Scotland, when she auditioned for "Britain's Got Talent." The television viewers were impressed with her gorgeous voice, and she achieved overnight fame.

Vicinity energy news11/21/2023 You don’t have cooling towers on the roof. “We have central plants, and piping to distribute, so you don’t have to have a boiler plant in your building, you don’t have to have a chiller plant in your building. The people we heat and cool, it’s a better price for them. Because we have this big thermal off-take, low gas prices wind up being a benefit for our customers. Because we’re the most efficient, if you look at the bid stack in the PJM or MISO, we’re down at the lower left. One of our systems is the cleanest way to burn methane on the grid. POWER: How does your group promote itself to customers?ĭiCroce: “Say you have a big petrochemical plant, or a facility in a big urban district. CHP and microgrids-we design, own, and operate. And then we have smaller CHP installations as part of other systems. “In our three biggest districts, Philadelphia, Boston, and Baltimore … we have more about 100 million square feet in Philadelphia, about 50 million in Boston, and just under 50 million in Baltimore. In a typical urban environment, the big hospitals, commercial real estate, high rises, government buildings and campuses … when you look at the skylines, most of those buildings are served by us.” So we really serve urban environments and campuses. POWER: Where do you see growth potential in district energy?ĭiCroce: “Military bases, campuses, hospital, medical complexes … all of those have district energy at the core. Now we’ve got a management team solely focused on energy, to provide great customer service.” I was able to bring all the energy talent over from Veolia. This allows us to expand our networks, put new infrastructure in new neighborhoods, in new parts of cities. “What it means for us was, we have an owner with good financial backing, with good cost-to-capital, and the ability to grow in this space. We knew it was time to check the market on interest from infrastructure funds. The ability to build our platform was restricted a bit, which impacted our ability to expand. POWER: What precipitated the deal with Antin?ĭiCroce: “If you looked at water, waste, energy business, and if you looked at our district energy, they all involved infrastructure that requires funding, and we were looking at that as we were out there looking at other ways to grow the business. We look at a company’s strategy, where they are, where they’ve been, where they’re going.” Veolia is the world’s largest environmental services company, working with industries including water, energy, and waste. POWER: What is your background in district energy?ĭiCroce: “I ran Veolia’s North American activities. Cities also recognize the important role we play in reducing the carbon footprint of their environs.” DiCroce touted Vicinity’s effort to be a greener alternative to conventional heating, cooling, and electricity service, and highlighted how the company’s leadership team has more than 50 years in the district energy business. District energy is supplying heating, cooling, humidification, and power for equipment sterilization, and DiCroce noted how commercial property owners can transfer their energy risks while recapturing valuable amenity space such as parking and rooftops in their buildings-all without onsite combustion.ĭiCroce noted that “property owners, developers, and major institutions alike are increasingly gravitating toward this established technology, recognizing it as a green, cost-competitive and super-reliable energy option. Bill DiCroce, president and CEO of Vicinity Energyīill DiCroce, president and CEO of Vicinity Energy, recently talked with POWER about how sectors such as life science and biomedicine are embracing district energy technology due to its resiliency and reliability. Vicinity today has more than 400 MW of combined heat and power (CHP) electricity production, providing service to more than 200 million square feet of building space. The company is supplying energy and related services across 13 networks in 10 major cities, including large networks in Boston Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Baltimore, Maryland and Kansas City, Missouri. Vicinity, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, immediately became North America’s largest provider of district energy. 19-21 in Chicago, Illinois.Īmong the newest district energy providers-at least in name-is Vicinity Energy, a company recently launched by Antin Infrastructure Partners after Antin’s purchase of Veolia North America’s district energy assets in the U.S. District energy is among several focus areas for POWER’s Distributed Energy Conference, which this year is scheduled for Oct. The rise of distributed, or decentralized, power generation has been supported by district energy, the generation from facilities and associated distribution networks supplying steam or hot water, chilled water, and electricity for heating and cooling to millions of square feet of building space across the U.S.
